GODSMACK SET TO LAUNCH SECOND MAJOR NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
IN CONNECTION WITH THEIR PLATINUM 'AWAKE' CD;
NEW SINGLE IS "BAD MAGICK"

"A lot of serious fucking energy" is what SULLY ERNA of GODSMACK says fans can expect during their first-ever major outdoor amphitheater and arena tour launching July 12 in Spokane, WA. Deftones will join GODSMACK--who've sold over five million albums worldwide--for what will surely be the most exciting and uncompromising hard rock show this summer. After its Pacific Northwest launch, the trek winds its way through the west coast, midwest and east before concluding September 8 in Virginia Beach, VA. These dates coincide with the release of "Bad Magick," the third single culled from GODSMACK's platinum-plus second album, AWAKE (Republic/Universal), described as "unrelenting, seductive and craftier than its predecessor..." (Pulse, December 2000). "Bad Magick" follows the #1 track "Awake" and Top 5 "Greed" and underlines the band's fierce mix of serious rhythm grooves, indelible melodies and blunt lyrics.

What's the inspiration for the pairing of GODSMACK and Deftones? Vocalist and songwriter SULLY describes the tour as a study in complimentary energies. "We felt that both bands are very strong and the fans would enjoy the mix. And we have a great deal of respect for each other."

The upcoming trek marks GODSMACK's triumphant return to the road. Between February 26 and April 29, they headlined their "Wake The Fuck Up" Tour, with guests Staind and Cold. The group--frontman SULLY, guitarist TONY ROMBOLA, bassist ROBBIE MERRILL and drummer TOMMY STEWART--fortified their bond with their fans in larger venues (5,000-8,000 seaters) and earned critical acclaim for their electrifying performances and imaginative, vivid stage production. At these shows, GODSMACK merged their trademark heavy grooves and majestic riffs with songs like "Spiral" and "Voodoo" where they stretch out musically with snaky instrumental passages. After the American dates, GODSMACK performed an array of arena dates with Limp Bizkit in Europe. Still on tap for 2001: GODSMACK will release a DVD/home video of their sold-out homecoming Worcester Centrum show (March 2, 2001) where they performed in front of 15,000 rabid fans. In addition to the DVD/home video of their performance, a DVD/home video documentary of life on the road with GODSMACK is also planned.
