GODSMACK
CELEBRATE 'GODSMACK LIVE,'
THE FORTHCOMING DVD/HOME VIDEO RELEASE, WITH LOS ANGELES PARTY;
FANS EXPERIENCE LIFE ON ROAD;
BAND TO HOST PLAYBOY MANSION PARTY

In the midst of their first-ever major outdoor amphitheatre and arena tour, GODSMACK took advantage of a day off in Los Angeles last week to host a party in celebration of their DVD/home video due out November 20 via Coming Home Productions. Titled GODSMACK LIVE, the forthcoming video offers a behind-the-scenes look at the band's live show and contains their sold-out homecoming Worcester Centrum performance (March 2, 2001) in its entirety. Celebrities including Tommy Lee and Rachel Hunter as well as Chino Moreno and Abe Cunningham of Deftones--whom are currently touring with GODSMACK--attended the private event held at the Key Club.

While waiting for the release of GODSMACK LIVE, fans can catch the group's electrifying set in-person as the tour winds its way across the U.S. this summer. The band--frontman SULLY ERNA, guitarist TONY ROMBOLA, bassist ROBBIE MERRILL and drummer TOMMY STEWART--is offering this special opportunity to a winner and three of his/her friends through a contest coordinated by the local presenting radio station in each market. A few lucky fans in each city that GODSMACK plays will be picked up and dropped off at their home in the GODSMACK tour bus and have an all-access pass for the show in their city.

In addition to experiencing what SULLY calls "a lot of serious fucking energy," concert-goers can expect to hear GODSMACK perform songs including the #1 rock tracks "Whatever," "Keep Away" and "Awake," as well as "Bad Magick," the third single culled from GODSMACK's platinum-plus second album, AWAKE (Republic/Universal). The band also merge their trademark heavy grooves and majestic riffs with songs like "Spiral" and "Voodoo" where they stretch out musically with snaky instrumental passages. In a recent USA Today story (July 6, 2001), Edna Gundersen noted how GODSMACK "crafts ultra-serious rock with monster riffs and wailed tales of despair and rage."

Critical response has been positive for GODSMACK's intense performance and imaginative, vivid stage production. Writing in the Los Angeles Times, Lina Lecaro commented: "Singer Sully Erna is an effective frontman, and his growling, soulful vocal style is impressive...a tribal drum jam also incited the crowd, and those in the lawn area even started bonfires, creating a ritualistic vibe that added to the spell the band cast."

After the trek concludes September 8 in Virginia Beach, VA, GODSMACK plan to host an exclusive event at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles where they will perform a special show for select fans that are flown out from each tour market. More details are to be announced in the coming weeks.
