Multi-Platinum Artist Godsmack Receives Grammy Nomination for Best Rock Instrumental Performance

NEW YORK, Jan. 4 -- Republic/Universal recording artist Godsmack has received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Instrumental Performance for their song "Vampires" from the two-time platinum CD Awake. Awake debuted at #5 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart and spawned the smash title track, as well as the rock radio hits "Bad Magick" and "Greed".

Godsmack ended 2001 on a very high note by winning the Billboard Music Award for Rock Artist of the Year. Most recently, Godsmack also swept the 2001 Boston Music Awards, winning Act of the Year, Album of the Year (Awake), Outstanding Rock Band, and Male Vocalist of the Year (Sully Erna).

Godsmack is Sully Erna (vocals), Tony Rombola (guitar), Robbie Merrill (bass) and Tommy Stewart (drums).

Godsmack will be contributing heavily to the soundtrack of Universal Pictures' The Scorpion King, the third installment of The Mummy movie series. Godsmack will record their new track and lead single "I Stand Alone" for the album, as well participate in the recruitment of additional artists for the project. The Scorpion King soundtrack is due April 2 on Universal Records.
