NEW YORK, April 5 -- Republic/Universal Records' Music From And Inspired By The Scorpion King debuted this week at #8 selling 93,211 according to Soundscan. The movie, The Scorpion King, is the third installment of the popular The Mummy series, and features "The Rock" (Dwayne Johnson) and stars Michael Clarke Duncan and Kelly Hu. The film was directed by Chuck Russell and will open nationwide on April 19.
Music From and Inspired By The Scorpion King features 16 tracks from some of today's most-popular rock bands. Ten of the tracks are brand new and are released now for the first time. Godsmack, Creed, System of a Down, Nickelback, Sevendust, Drowning Pool, Coal Chamber, Hoobastank, Mushroomhead and Twelve Stones have all contributed new music to this explosive collection. Also included is Rob Zombie w/Ozzy Osbourne and a remix of P.O.D.'s "Set It Off."
The first single off Music From and Inspired By The Scorpion King is Godsmack's new track "I Stand Alone," which made its explosive debut as the No. #1 Most Added song at Active, Mainstream, Modern Rock radio and is currently rising up the charts. MTV's "Making Of The Video" for Godsmack's "I Stand Alone," which includes a special appearance by "The Rock," premiered on MTV on March 3 and was immediately added to the channel out of the box. The video is currently in rotation on MTV, MTV2, VH-1, MuchMusicUSA and debuted this week at #1 on the CVC Rock Chart.
