NEW YORK, April 17 -- Republic/Universal Records recording artist Godsmack is experiencing major success at rock radio with their new track, "I Stand Alone," the lead single off of the soundtrack to Universal Pictures' The Scorpion King. The song is currently Top 5 at both Mainstream and Active Rock formats and marks the band's seventh consecutive Top 5 track on the Active Rock Radio chart. Universal Records' Music From And Inspired By The Motion Picture The Scorpion King debuted at #8 in the Billboard Top 200 and has remained in the Top 10 since its release on March 26th.
MTV recently aired the making of "I Stand Alone" on their show Making The Video which had such a successful first run the network had to schedule additional airings. In other music television news, Sully will be hosting an episode of MTV2's Rock Show in May.
Last Week Godsmack won two Boston Music Awards: Outstanding Rock Band -- Major Label, and lead singer Sully Erna won for Outstanding Male Vocalist -- Major Label. The band nabbed six nominations and performed, "Spiral" and "I Stand Alone," for the packed house at Boston's Orpheum Theatre.
On April 9th, Godsmack released a home video DVD entitled Smack This!, a collection of back stage footage and live performances. They are currently writing and recording new music for their next full-length album.
Recently, the band received other impressive accolades. In addition to a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rock Instrumental Performance for their song "Vampires" from Awake, the rockers ended 2001 in style by winning the Billboard Music Award for Rock Artist of the Year.
