GODSMACK TO METALLICA: THANKS FOR BEING COOL. Metallica and Godsmack's Madly in Anger North American tour starts March 2nd in Phoenix. The two bands know each other now, having recently returned from a four-week tour of Europe. While Godsmack singer Sully Erna originally had jitters about opening for his heroes, they were overcome quickly. "It was really, really a pleasure to be able to meet these guys, and have them embrace us the way they did. You have a lot of different expectations and thoughts, and you're not really sure whose gonna be cool and whose not gonna be cool but... this band, I even told James (Hetfield), I'm like, 'Thank you for not having us look up to the wrong band for the last 20 years." Drummer Shannon Larkin added: "What was really surreal was you know, James Hetfield coming and hanging out with us, riding on our tour bus and... you know, taking us out to dinner on nights off. That was surreal... you know, you keep looking at the guy like, 'Oh my God, that's Hetfield!'" Godsmack will probably headline their own shows during some days off and may recruit Dropbox to support them. Dropbox is the first band signed to Erna's Realign label, and their self-titled debut drops March 2nd as well.
