GODSMACK ACOUSTIC CLOCKS IN AT GOLD OTHER SIDE RELEASED AS SACD BAND TO LAUNCH INDY 500 WITH PRE-RACE LAP WORLD'S LARGEST SPORTING EVENT MAY 30
May 27, 2004 • New York, NY - Following on the heels of last year's platinum FACELESS, an album that debuted #1 on the Billboard charts and garnered enough top rock radio hits to bring the band's total to 10, Godsmack's recent release, the acoustic THE OTHER SIDE has achieved gold status. Fueled by the catchy and sultry lead single “Running Blind,”which has nabbed and held all the top rock and alternative radio spots since its release, the disc features acoustic renditions of Godsmack hits and three brand-new tracks. It has been garnering rave reviews from coast to coast; The New York Post calling it a “terrific album,” USA Today praising it as “a fresh offering,” and Entertainment Weekly saying that it was “worth the price of admission.” Ethereal and soaked in bittersweet melodies, THE OTHER SIDE (Republic/Universal Records) was produced by vocalist Sully Erna and mixed by David Bottrill.
Universal Records Group has also just released THE OTHER SIDE as a surround sound 5.1- channel high definition Super Audio CD (SACD), one of a select few available today in this genre of music. The SACD music disc features a high definition 5.1 channel surround track that envelops the listener with the aural ambiance of the music hall. Combined with SACD's superior dynamic range, definition and clarity, this disc perfectly captures the full dynamic impact of a live performance. It is a dual-layer "Hybrid" that allows it to be played in stereo with standard CD sound quality by any conventional CD player.
Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum Godsmack, fresh off 100 dates of a sold out tour with Metallica, will join a number of today's top celebrities at the 88th running of the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race on Sunday, May 30. They have been invited to launch the legendary car race, known as the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing," by circling the track in a specially designed convertible Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car. The band rounded out by guitarist Tony Rombola, bassist Robbie Merrill and drummer Shannon Larkin are all huge race fans as frontman Erna confirms "if we weren't there in person, we'd all be glued to the television and calling it a party."
